Joy, Body & Soul is a warm and faith-informed therapy practice in Anchorage, Alaska, offering compassionate counseling for adults, couples, and families.

Founded by Joy Knight, LPC-S, and joined by therapist Elizabeth Parret, M.A., our practice combines professional expertise with genuine compassion. We know it takes courage to reach out for help – you don’t have to do it alone. Whether you’re struggling with anxiety or depression, navigating relationship challenges, processing past trauma, or simply feeling stuck, we will walk alongside you. Our therapists bring not only credentials and experience, but also relational insight and heart. You’ll be met with empathy, understanding, and a safe, non-judgmental space to grow.

Joy, Body & Soul gets its name from our philosophy: true wellness comes from nurturing joy in both body and soul. We offer an eclectic, integrative approach to counseling because we know one size does not fit all. Your sessions may include:

  • mindfulness or somatic exercises

  • creative interventions (even a walk outside or therapeutic art when appropriate)

  • prayer or spiritual reflection

Begin Your Journey to Healing

Taking the step to begin therapy can feel intimidating – but we make it as smooth and welcoming as possible. Here’s how to get started with Joy, Body & Soul Counseling:

1. Schedule Your First Session

We offer appointments in-person at our Anchorage office (in a tranquil, spa-like setting) or online via secure telehealth video sessions – whichever you prefer. Many clients enjoy coming into our calming office space, but if you’re located anywhere in Alaska or prefer the convenience of home, telehealth is a great option. We’ll do our best to accommodate your scheduling needs, including limited evening availability. Once we pick a time, you’ll be all set for your first session.

2. Complete Intake Paperwork

Before your appointment, we will send you a brief set of digital intake forms through our secure Client Portal. These include basic information, consent to treatment, and a few questions about your history and therapy goals. Don’t worry – if anything feels overwhelming or confusing, we can review it together at your session. We’re here to support you at every step.

3. Begin Your Healing Journey

At your first session, we’ll spend time getting to know you, discussing your goals, and outlining a therapy plan that fits your needs. As we continue working together, sessions are typically held weekly or bi-weekly, with flexibility based on your pace and priorities. Some weeks may focus on crisis support, while others provide space for reflection and growth. Over time, you’ll begin to experience healing, clarity, and renewed hope. And when you're ready, we can taper sessions or schedule occasional check-ins. You’re in control of your journey, and we’re honored to walk alongside you.
